being called a cat?

we were at the hospital icu visiting chow. it was late morning hours, since hubby was on leave.

surprisingly, he was high-spirited. i was thrilled as he has been showing fluctuating condition last few weeks, often gasping for breath. wind, the helper was with him.

apparently, there was a 'passing out' event the night before. he was curious to find out what actually happened. i texted his wife and casually joked with him, that he was behaving like a curiosity 'cat'. but, it was really good to see him 'talking' and 'smiling' so much.

at one stage, i said,"u knw, u r really the strongest man i hv ever seen!:

he mouthed his reply clearly,"what to do?"

indeed, if a person reaches a stage that all he could do is just to accept the reality of truths, he will be at peace and strives to handle the pain from within. i truly pray that GOD will relieve him of his physical pain and gives him the spiritual freedom that will let him rest and sleep well.

out of the blue, he wanted to tell me and hubby something. it was tough for us to get the right word, for i heard him saying,"the other day, someone just called me a ...." after many attempts, we realised that he meant 'cat'!

i thought he was 'offended' with me calling him a curiosity 'cat', then it turned out that he was merely sharing the amusing remark that a nurse called him a 'cat' the other day....my significant other half was fast, he nodded with agreement, "coz a cat has 9 lives!"

chow nodded with pleasure, with a satisfactory smile on his face.

indeed, i began to trace with hubby why the western way of presentation is 'a cat has 9 lives?' i hvnt got the answer yet.

we even told chow that the oriental way of saying is '打不死的蟑螂(小强)'.....

so, it was coincidental that chow was being described as a 'cat' on 2 occasions in the same week. we were all amused.

at one stage, he was trying to tell us that 'megan has become very .....', we just didnt get the right adjective word, except that we knew it was a 4-syllabus word. then, he kept saying 4th july...after many attempts, then we realised that he meant 'independent'!

from the conversations, you could tell that chow 's mind is lucid and organised, relating things well. the only thing is that, he has lost track of his time and was asking us about the date.

when i told him that his bdae coincidentally falls on 22 apr and his wife is keen to hv a mini celebration at home, he replied,"see how first!"

we hope to be able to give him more cheer on his 54th bdae......every day that he's able to look around and feel the touch of his beloved family members is a blessing.

jiayou, chow!
