dance audition is over

finally, joy's dance semi-final audition for music festival was over ysterday.

she came back having mixed feelings. out of 5, 2 were selected. well, the geninely 2 strong teams. according to her, hers was the 3rd team which was supposedly to be nominated in, but one of the judges commented that the dance movements were 'inappropriate'.

well, what exactly was inappropriate? the girls felt 'cheated' and were little upset.

afterall, they hv put in so much time and energy. in fact, for joy, it's trading in bz time for acne face.

i was told that her group, in the first audition viewing, was told by the same judge to 'go all out' to dance..meaning, encouraging them to be as 'sexy' as possible. but then, now at semi-final viewing, the same judge felt that those moves were too 'bold'.....

frankly, my own views were positive. i hv watched her dance at home and i seriously thought they looked 60% above amateur, but truly, for a jc environment, it might be deem overly 'sexy'. imagine these jc girls with golden beaded dress and loosening their long straight hair, gyrating to the music and with 'slutty' eyes!

to me, getting in is not the ultimate goal. afterall, its' the first time these girls from diff sec sch got tgether, all having diff opinions to share. being able to come so far in last few weeks and putting together a show, is itself an winning trophy.

in joy's words,"i hv really done my best. we had good showmanship. the only regret is that our group didn't get in, and i would not be able to perform for my ahs friends at the music festival!"

"well, talking abt perfce, there's a lot of platform, dun hold it to heart. isn't one coming in may with jacky?" i said.

the good thing is, after the whole episode of audition ystday, joy got bathed, hid in the room, spoke to a few good friends about the whole event (probably shed a little disappointment tears, haha), she just 'konked out' on the sofa in the living room, joining the 'dreamgirls' in 'ra la land'!

her sleep lasted from late afternoon to this morning 8 plus am.

truly, she needed the rest. it was good to put the burden down. imagine if the group had gone into final, her burden of this project wouldnt just stop ystdy.

she looked all so worn out with the acne breakout on the face. it was sad to see her that way. when i told hubby of my 'heartache' to see her in that state, he responded,"it's a path that every kid has to go through before she can mature...it's nothing!"

maybe, a woman's heart works differently from a man's. but, he's definitely right. what's life without the 酸甜苦辣体验?

an experiential learning speaks a thousand words than one word from the parents, sometimes.

  1. I feel Joy growing up in your blog, the way she is handling all the stress, sch work, dance and all. I am sure your heart 'ache' seeing her so exhausted.
