visit to dermatologist

joy's complexion has seen acne breakouts, almost a new addition every other day.

so, being a firm believer that a girl's beauty is more than 50% derived from a good skin, i decided to bring her to a dermatologist in the east.

the dermatologist, an experienced one, recommended by red, is a motherly figure. when she knew joy is in vjc (same as her daughter who's now studying medicine in oxford), she had a long chat with joy, such that the nurse has to enter her room to remind her about patients waiting outside.

the funny part was, when she kept asking joy to lift her long hair to show her neck. at first glance, she thought joy's neck looked swollen and worried that it might be thyroid. of coz, such fear was dispelled after her careful examination.

i like what she reiterated with joy,"enjoy your life in the college. try different things but, at the end of it, you must still get As to get to your goal..." "you can pursue anything in life, but having a basic education support cannot be sidelined. concentrate to build on your intellectual capacity...even if you dance, dun forget about the study part....pple see dancers as bimbos..."

when i shared the 'bimbos' with hubby, we had great laugh coz' he has coined a new term on joy - bambo!

truly, i recalled with joy, how some mths back after her 'o' level, she was toying with the idea of selecting a course in poly, instead of going to college. i had to handle it carefully, by telling her if there's any specific poly course that interests her. it turned ouf that it was a mere 'escapade' route for her, coz' she has heard so much about the stress level in jc, esp vjc.

truly, one and a half mths in jc life now, i see that she's stressed with time mgt and pursuit of her dance interest. but, she thot her life is enriching, and that's a great knowledge for me.

sometimes, in life, we might be so tied up with many things, but at the end of it, we feel empowered and enriched to want to excel.....this makes a great difference for someone who's a low achiever, coz he probably not knws what is life's meaning.

jiayou, joy! (i look fwd to her doing part-time piano and dance teaching, and can help 'supplement' my meagre teaching income, haha~!)

  1. Wah, for Joy to do part time job will be hard esp when she doesnt even have enough time for herself now.

  2. Nice doc, yah? Hope her medicine works. Joy is leading a busy yet enriching life, doing things she loves like dancing. So still good lah! Better than pp slogging whole life for meagre salary.
